Shepherds Heart is a registered NGO /NPO situated in Phoenix, a large township on the North Coast of Durban South Africa. The current population is almost five hundred thousand . The township has a large percentage of unemployment and this gives rise to other problems such as gansterism, substance abuse, alcoholism, rape, murder,and violence - just to name a few. Phoenix is regarded as a "high risk" area becos of the violent crimes and excessives murders that prevails. Recently there has been a rapid increase in the number of HIV and AIDS sufferers. We at Shepherds Heart adopt a holistic approach in helping our community through community based projects and upliftment programs. We make food and clothing available as often as possible to help those in need. A key component to our work is learners; We work in collaboration withs schools in educating and helping children in the areas of life skills, sport and mentorship. We also work in collaboration with other organisations that mainly deal with transformation, education and training. Shepherds Heart seeks to provide services to our community through development, empowerment and mentorship.
